FAB16 CONFERENCE

At the Fab13, which took place in August in Santiago, Chile, Marc-Olivier Ducharme and Phonesavanh Thongsouksanoumane presented the bid for Montreal, which was chosen to host the « FAB16 », in 2020. This event, which takes place every year in a different city (Santiago de Chile in 2017, Toulouse in France in 2018, Cairo in Egypt in 2019), brings together more than 1000 Fab Labs actors from all over the world. The candidacy has garnered a lot of support from the Canadian, Quebec Governments and the City of Montreal, as well as many organizations. It was orchestrated with the Fab Labs of Quebec, Monique Chartrand (échoFab) and Guillaume Coulombe (Fab Labs Québec).

FAB CITY SUMMIT

Locally productive, globally connected cities

Since its creation 5 years ago, 28 cities and regions have become FabCity. Inspired by the model of the Fab Labs, the production of goods and energy, and of food distributed on an urban territory, the Fab Cities commit themselves in 35 years to produce the majority of what they consume while experimenting with various practices. collaborative efforts to develop a circular economy on a human scale. In 2020, Montreal will host the Fab Labs and FabCity International Conference. This is a pivotal year for Fab Labs in Canada.

The metropolis will also be the scene of the World Summit of Fab Cities. It is a large gathering of experts and professionals from diverse backgrounds (digital manufacturing, design, sustainable development, etc.) who are working to develop a model that would allow cities to produce what they consume. here 2054.
